Our proud Legacy
Founded by Martha Berry to provide local children with a quality education, Berry College builds on her proud legacy by inviting today’s students to balance intellectual exploration, hands-on learning and character development—while contributing their ideas and efforts to the betterment of the college community and the larger world.
Campus
Berry’s campus, the world’s largest, includes a vast ecosystem of woodlands, meadows and streams and is home to unique opportunities for research, entrepreneurship, hands-on learning and recreation. It has been consistently ranked among country’s most beautiful by Architectural Digest, Travel + Leisure, Buzzfeed, Thrillist and Southern Living.
Community
Berry is home to a warm and inclusive community that enthusiastically supports and celebrates the activities and interests of its 2,200+ students. Throughout their college years, each student is advised by a personal network of caring staff, coaches, professors and Berry alumni.
Academics
Berry is a comprehensive liberal arts and sciences college and a member of the Annapolis Group, an organization of top-tier national liberal arts colleges. U.S. News and World Report’s 2023 Best Colleges Rankings named Berry #3 among Regional Universities in the South.

ACCREDITATIONS
Berry College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award baccalaureate, masters, and education-specialist degrees. Berry College also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels. Berry’s music program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM), Berry’s Nursing program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), and Berry’s programs in business are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
Lifeworks
Every Berry student is guaranteed up to eight semesters of paid, hands-on professional development experience—connecting conceptual learning with practical skills development and leadership opportunity. The skills developed through LifeWorks map directly to the competencies identified by employers as most in-demand with college graduates.
Financial aid
Berry was founded on the ideal that learning works best as a shared commitment. The college awards both merit and need-based scholarships.
Athletics
Berry is a founding member of the Southern Athletic Association, Division III of the NCAA. Conference members include Birmingham-Southern College, Centre College, Hendrix College, Oglethorpe University, Millsaps College, Sewanee: The University of the South and Rhodes College.

Berry’s 131,000 square-foot Steven J. Cage Athletic and Recreation Center offers students a state-of-the-art home for thriving intercollegiate and intramural sports programs. Highlights include a 2,000-seat intercollegiate sports arena, two racquetball courts, an eight-lane pool, and fitness center.
