Sean-Anthony ’25 has a knack for people skills and technology — a winning combination that led Mohawk Industries to offer him a job before graduation. How did he get there? Majoring in creative technologies and computer science, Sean-Anthony took advantage of work and internship opportunities throughout his college career.

Initially, he chose Berry for its tight-knit community. His acceptance to the WinShape Scholarship Program closed the deal.

Even before the first day of classes, Sean-Anthony plugged into Berry’s community. After a scholarship orientation in July, he moved in early to join the Berry Information Technology Students (BITS) Program, which serves Berry directly as an extension of the Office of Information Technology.

“BITS helped improve my customer service skills, while also providing me opportunities to get certified in skills including coding languages and Office365,” Sean-Anthony says.

He added a second job to reflect his coursework: HackBerry teaching assistant. In the HackBerry Lab, he learned how to fix problems and to teach and mentor other students.

“Being a teaching assistant at HackBerry helped me take my troubleshooting skills to the next level,” Sean-Anthony says. “At both jobs I learned a lot about working directly for and with people.”

His many hours at the help desk and in the lab paid off: After his junior year, Mohawk Industries offered him a summer internship as an automation intern. In this role, Sean-Anthony had to practice strong communication and patient troubleshooting with a new team.

Sean-Anthony’s team at Mohawk asked him to extend his internship. And after fall semester, his team offered him a full-time position as a supply chain associate through Mohawk’s ASPIRE Program.

“Receiving the offer to work full-time was a relief more than anything,” Sean-Anthony says. “I know it is not easy to find a good job coming right out of college, so having this opportunity was very special and reassured me that all the work I put in paid off.”

Future plans secured, Sean-Anthony is enjoying his final months at Berry, leading a small group through the WinShape College Program and continuing his work with BITS.

One of his takeaways from his time at Berry?

“I value the lessons I learned regarding time management,” Sean-Anthony reflects. “Having to balance school, work, scholarship commitments and still making time for myself and people I care about was something I had to pick up.”
