Completing the FAFSA

Please complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to apply for federal student aid such as federal grants, work-study funds and loans. In addition, Berry uses your FAFSA information to determine eligibility for state and institutional aid.

September 2024 FAFSA Update

After a challenging rollout in 2024, the FAFSA is currently undergoing revision to improve the process, eliminate known errors, and provide accurate data to colleges. The Department of Education will be inviting select groups to participate in helping to test the revised FAFSA shortly, but we expect the FAFSA will open for all students on December 1, 2024. The delay in FAFSA availability means Berry may not be able to provide need-based aid awards until February 1, 2025.

Please check this site often for periodic updates on the rollout of the revised FAFSA.

FOR NEW STUDENTS (Fall 25 Freshmen and Transfers)

We anticipate seniors applying for admission to Berry to start as freshmen in August 2025 will be able to complete the FAFSA beginning on December 1, 2024. We encourage families to complete the FAFSA as early as possible but no later than February 15, 2025, our priority date for need-based aid.

Although you cannot complete the FAFSA now, there are a few steps you can complete to be ready when it is available. These include:

  1. Create your StudentAid.gov account
  2. Determine who you will list as a Contributor. There is a great resource to help you determine if your parent is a contributor when you fill out the FAFSA.
  3. Make sure you and your parents/contributor filed your 2023 taxes (these were due for most on April 15, 2024). The FAFSA will ask your consent to transfer your tax data to your FAFSA form.
  4. Make a list of any untaxed income or assets such as a savings account.
  5. Create a list of the schools you are interested in applying to. Ensure Berry gets a copy of your FAFSA results by entering Berry’s FAFSA code which is 001554.

FOR Continuing STUDENTS

If you need to complete the FAFSA to qualify for aid for the 2024 – 25 school year, go to StudentAid.gov and complete the current FAFSA for 2024.

To renew aid for the 2025 – 26 school year, please wait until the new FAFSA opens on December 1, 2024, before completing the FAFSA. If you already created a StudentAid.gov account, you will be able to use the same account when the FAFSA is available.

Be sure to include Berry’s FAFSA code 001554 when you file to ensure we receive your FAFSA results.
